On the 17th of May Benanti Winery had the honour to host Mr. Steen Thorsted – consul general – head of Danish Trade Council Italy and his friends from Denmark.
Graduated from the Copenhagen Business School, Mr Thorsted is on the consulate position since September 2009. A man of respectful intelligence and authority, he is also a winelover.
Enthusiastic about volcanic wines and terroir, the guests were curious about Benanti. Cavaliere Benanti was there himself to tell the story of the Benanti winery and the importance of traditional wine cultivation on the Etna.
The Danish guests enjoyed a trip on Monte Serra, a visit to the palmento and, of course, a wine tasting accompanied by a brunch composed of local Etnean products. The Benanti Winery offered them the following wines:
- Noblesse Spumante Methodo Classico,
- Pietramarina Etna Bianco Superiore DOC. – 2008, 2001;
- Rovittello Etna Rosso DOC – 2005, 1998;
- Serra della Contessa Etna Rosso DOC – 2006, 2000.
Our wish was to give a proper ending to the visit and pour our desert wine Moscato di Noto, Il Musico. Unfortunately though the guests had a flight to catch. To ensure they won’t miss it, Cavaliere Benanti arranged for his personal driver to take Mr Throsted and his friends to the airport of Catania, Fontanarossa. In general we all enjoyed the afternoon; us for being in the authoritative company of Mr Thorsted and his friends, and they for encountering Etna wines.
